Community Committee Meeting (2026-05-13)¶
Please add new agenda items under the New agenda items heading!
Attendees¶
Lahari Chowtoori
April Johnson
Deb Giles
Naomi Washington
Action items¶
Naomi will send the spreadsheet, which covers most of a responsibility grid, re: how workshops will run
WORKSHOP CFP, LET’S GO
Detailed plan / using Naomi’s grid as a jumping off point
Ask Celeste to confirm what the budget is from the foundation
Then write the content for the next workshop CFP
Post the workshop CFP ~June 1?
Deadline for proposals July 31?
Can we as a committee suggest some topics for the mini-summit? We don’t need an elaborate CFP but Naomi and Deb will follow up over email.
Agenda & notes¶
We talked about upcoming in-person events
OSS summit EU https://
jupyterfoundation .org /event /jupyter -mini -summit -at -open -source -summit -europe -2026/ PyTorch US (tentative)
In each case there will be a Jupyter-specific 1/2 day meetup collocated with the larger event
Attendees to the mini summit(s?) have to register for the larger event, too
The larger events are hosted by LF, so it’s like signing up for workshop day or sprints alongside JupyterCon
We also discussed how PM support (Naomi) for workshops vs. Event support (Deb) would work
General overview: the events team typically finds and books venue, takes care of meals, etc. In the Q1 round of workshops, the hosts (people who submitted event proposals) did all of that for themselves
Effectively Naomi will run things the way we ran them in Q1
Naomi will send us some bullet points summarizing what’s different
Travel notes:
Travel funding is still available
The Events team offered visa letter support but no other LF team does that (the LF event team is more able to take on liability)
About the community pages / website... why are there 2 pages?
https://
jupyter .org /community (let’s treat this as the welcome mat) Assignment time! At our next call, each of us must bring our own version of the community page
That can be bullets, a napkin drawing, a fully coded website, or an interpretive dance (no more than 10 min)
https://
docs .jupyter .org /en /latest /community /content -community .html (it’s ok if they two pages connect, as long as they don’t conflict)
